NBC Learn Partners With Southeast Kansas Education Service Center at Greenbush to Bring Learning Resources to Schools Across Kansas and Western Missouri

NEW YORK, NY—May 1, 2012— NBC Learn, the educational arm of NBC News, announced today a partnership with the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center at Greenbush that will make its digital learning resources available to over 1,300 schools across Kansas and Western Missouri. This innovative collaboration provides subscription access to NBC's award-winning resources to approximately 500,000 elementary, middle and high students, as well as their teachers and parents, for two years beginning with the 2012-2013 school year.

NBC Learn provides access to over 12,000 NBC News archival video resources that help bring subjects to life in the classroom. Each video is mapped to curriculum, state standards, and the Common Core, and the database is updated with current events on a daily basis. A subscription to NBC Learn allows all teachers, students, and their parents to access the resource at school and at home with 24-hour customer support. NBC Learn is also compatible with the iPad so that users can access resources on the go. As part of the partnership with Greenbush, NBC Learn will also provide product and professional development training for teachers and administrators.

“NBC Learn is thrilled to support these students and teachers with engaging and informative resources that help distill complicated educational concepts into real life examples,” said Soraya Gage, Executive Producer of NBC Learn. “This partnership with Greenbush highlights the opportunities that exist for innovation in the education space and we hope to continue to build more of these relationships across the country.”

"I am really excited about the learning opportunities available through NBC Learn. There is no doubt that the technology and resources accessible to teachers and families will increase classroom engagement and enthusiasm,” said Mike Bodensteiner, Executive Director, Southeast Kansas Education Service Center at Greenbush.

“As we all work to prepare our students for a globally competitive knowledge based economy, our teachers and students need access to compelling digital learning and media rich resources to provide meaningful learning experiences for Kansas students,” said Melinda A. Stanley, State Education Technology Coordinator, Kansas State Department of Education. “Thanks to Greenbush and NBC Learn for partnering to provide resources that enable teachers to make these 'real world' connections and empower students to maximize their academic potential.”

In addition to its subscription resources, NBC Learn also produces original video collections that are made available for free on NBCLearn.com. These include the Emmy Award-winning “Science of NFL Football,” and “Science of the Winter Olympic Games” collections, "the newly launched "Science of NHL Hockey" series, as well as “Changing Planet” and “Chemistry Now.” For more on NBC Learn, visit www.nbclearn.com.
